Junior Process Technologist (OPEN)
Junior Process Technologist (M/F/X)- Permanent Contract Full-Time – Brussels - 1-3 years experience

You know how to run a coating or extrusion process?
You like understanding why something sticks, why it bubbles, why it tears? And above all, how to fix it? This role was built for you.
Why this role exists
Our client is a Belgian university spin-off developing self-healing polymers for tyres. The formulation is solid. The next critical step: industrialising the application processes — coating, roll-to-roll, film and tape extrusion.
They need someone who knows how to do this, not just in theory. You join a small team where your work has a direct impact on the product and the commercial roadmap.
What you'll do day to day
- Apply polymer-based adhesives, coatings, films or tapes via film coating, roll-to-roll processing or film/tape extrusion at lab and pilot scale
- Run structured experiments: preparation, testing, documentation and interpretation of results
- Develop process parameters, lab protocols and quality control routines
- Help translate lab formulations into reproducible, scalable processing workflows
- Contribute to testing and evaluation of finished layers: material behaviour, coating quality, durability and application performance
- Build clean, traceable datasets to support data-driven decision-making in R&D
Your profile
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Polymer Science
- 1–3 years of industry experience in polymer formulation or application (adhesives, coatings, inks, films…)
- Background in printing, packaging, coatings, adhesives or polymer processing: highly relevant
- Rigorous, comfortable in the lab, familiar with polymer characterisation equipment
- Fluent English; Dutch or French is a plus
- Hands-on, curious, and motivated to work in a fast-moving startup environment
What's in it for you
- A hands-on role on an innovative technology with a real commercial outlet
- Rare exposure to self-healing polymer chemistry and industrial process development
- Quality mentoring within a strong, multidisciplinary technical team
- Full-time permanent contract + standard Belgian benefits (meal vouchers, eco-cheques, hospitalisation and group insurance, public transport reimbursement)
Not for you if…
The equipment is at lab and pilot scale, and processes are still being built. You'll need to adapt quickly to changing constraints and work independently within a small team. If you're looking for the stability of a large industrial group with established production lines, this is not the right time.
